9.22.14

Today in  class we started the new unit. It was on population and migration.  We discussed how the planet is rapidly increasing in population every year. There are over seven billion people on the planet right now and the population is increasing by about 73 million a year. An astounding 90% of the population growth takes place in the developing countries of Africa, South and East Asia, and Latin America. We also learned about the life expectancy of different areas in different time periods. The life expectancy is the average number of years to e lived by a group of people born in the same year. The crude birth rate is the number of births  per thousand of a population; the crude death rate is the number of deaths per thousand. But people don't just live and die; there is also migration which changes the population of one place.
